    Ameresco has new opportunity for a Lead Operator to join our Team and operate a central utility plant in Silicon Hills, just outside of Austin Texas.  Ameresco is looking for a highly motivated individual to operate the plant and perform basic Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks on a variety of equipment.  The Central Utility Plant equipment includes two 5.5 MW engine generators with heat recovery boilers, three chillers, one Cleaver Brooks saturated steam boiler and balance of plant equipment.  The plant is operated 24/7/365 to provide electricity, steam, and chilled water to a 1.3 million square foot office park.  The individual would be required to work rotating shifts which includes weekends and holiday coverage.

    Responsibilities

    Work with Ameresco corporate on a week to week basis to identify operational and maintenance needs of the facility;

    Provide leadership and guidance to operations staff;

    Take the lead in planning maintenance outages;

    Resolve operator scheduling conflicts and vacation time approval;

    Review and approve operator timecards;

    Monitor fuel, chemical, and consumable inventories and schedule reorders;

    Organize the repair of equipment – parts and contractors required;

    Operate the plant in a safe and reliable manner;

    Meet customer demand for steam, electricity, and chilled water;

    Perform routine equipment checks;

    Troubleshoot and correct equipment operational issues;

    Perform basic preventive maintenance (PM) on the plant equipment;

    Check chemical usage and adjust chemical feed as required for boiler water and cooling tower treatment;

    Assistance with maintenance outages and repair of power plant equipment systems, and related power plant support equipment;

    Maintain customer satisfaction and exceed customers’ expectations;

    Perform routine environmental checks and logs; and

    Performs related duties as required.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    High school diploma or equivalent.

    1-year in management or leadership role

     

    Additional Preferred Qualifications:

    Physical ability to bend, reach, climb, and lift 75+ lbs. without assistance.

    Ability to work from ladders, platforms, high places, and cramped spaces.

    Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and foster positive business relationships.

    Basic computer skills including e-mail and data entry using Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel.

    May be required for ‘on call’ support or varied schedule needs.

    May be required to work rotating shift on days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
