Read and understand specifications, reference codes and standards;
Review and interpret contract drawings;
Review provisions that have been made to provide required control inspection and testing;
Prepare quality control plan for each project assigned;
Initial setup and daily management of QCS/RMS functions;
Efficient management of project submittals;
Check to assure all materials and or equipment have been submitted and approved;
Control all communications and project documentation to preclude any delays or deficiencies;
Communicate with Contracting office with a positive and solutions-oriented manner;
Lead required meetings with all parties in a professional and organized and well-informed manner;
Be on top of all daily work activities, ensure all testing is done accordingly and documented correctly;
Consistent with all required inspections, have a proactive rather than reactive approach to all aspects of quality control; and
Perform other duties as required.
Prepare the project Safety Plan and Activity Hazard Analysis for each definable feature of work on the project.
Ensure compliance with project Accident Prevention Plan;
Ensure personal protective equipment meets applicable OSHA/EPA requirements and employees are trained on proper use;
Conduct daily walkthrough of the project site ensuring work is being accomplished safely and occupational health is not compromised;
Safety training of all personnel assigned to project and project site visitors;
Conduct project safety inspections with follow-up inspections of any open items;
Subcontractor qualification and training;
Creation and evaluating activity hazard reviews;
Regulatory compliance with OSHA and USACE standards and conduct accident and incident investigations;
Development and Implementation of Corrective Action Plans;
Work with project supervision to create safety solutions to safety problems;
Foster and maintains a positive safety culture for the project personnel;
Maintain all safety certifications as required by contract;
Attends and participate in all preparatory and initial quality control phase meetings;
Conduct weekly safety meetings for all workers;
Produce a Daily Safety Report of activities performed;
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, co-workers, supervisors, and management; and
Perform other duties as required.
Proven 5 years’ experience as a QC manager and three years safety experience.
Active/Working towards US Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors certificate preferred.
Must have USACE proven experience.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills.
Must be organized, proactive and have proven experience working with Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
Knowledge of QCS-RMS a plus.
Skillful communicator in both verbal and in written communication.
Excellent writing skills with proper grammar.
A great listener who can communicate professionally and in an open and positive approach.
