Ameresco is looking for a Business Financial Analyst Intern to gain hands-on experience creating financial reports, providing detailed analyses, and supporting all internal reporting requirements. We are looking for students who want to apply their skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment, where the work is often fast-paced and challenging. This position is located in Framingham, MA.
Partner with multiple business units, principally the Eastern and Energy Asset groups, to create and manage a service-oriented function that provides solutions for business challenges, including a full range of financial and project analysis and communication support, project costs and periodic reporting, reconciliations, monthly and quarterly project status schedules and analysis, and project revenue and cost forecasting.;
Prepare project schedules and analysis for internal and external audit.
Review and determine initial project setup in system with key stakeholders;
Perform monthly project reviews with Project Managers, Construction Directors, and Business Unit V.P.’s to review status of each project, analyze costs and cost accruals, prepare forecasts, adjust budgets, prepare final project analysis and closeouts. Review all project costs, project capitalized costs, and accruals.
Monitor and analyze project revenues and costs to ensure complete and accurate cost accumulation and revenue recognition. Prepare revenue deferral schedules, cost adjustments, and other related items and provide to Accounting Transactions teams with supporting information for processing in the correct accounting period. Ensure accurate and timely closing deadlines are achieved and in full compliance with US GAAP;
Prepare and review project-related account reconciliations;
Support the Business Financial Manager to consolidate and review monthly business unit revenue and cost forecasts;
Provide support to Corp Senior Financial Analyst on the Adaptive planning/forecast system (running reports, loading actuals, reconciling); running and reconciling monthly Management Reporter financial reports; and perform ad hoc analysis including accumulating data for trend analysis,
Interface with MS Dynamic accounting system and workflow/document management system as required to ensure accurate documentation for organizational use and drive toward continuous process efficiency and improvement;
Foster a positive and effective customer and team-oriented work environment that facilitates collaborative relationships with Transactions to facilitate and drive business cycle close processes and procedures, throughout Finance, and with Company business units; and
Perform other duties as required.
Junior level college education focusing on Finance or Accounting
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Working knowledge of Accounting and experience building financial models desirable
MS Office proficiency with advanced Excel and Word experience preferred
Excellent verbal, written, computer, technical data, spreadsheet, and presentation communication and organizational skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables within fast paced, team project-oriented work environment.
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
