We currently seek a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development and implementation of energy savings performance contracting projects, new technology applications, and renewable energy initiatives.
Prepare engineering design and bid document development in support of construction, operations, and maintenance of customer site programs and projects in accordance with energy savings performance contract requirements;
Analyze and prepare conceptual and detailed engineering design and bid documents, cost estimates, drawings, and specifications for energy efficient building technology and system measures;
Conduct site surveys to investigate existing mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing systems, and document energy performance information including utility data, and facility infrastructure drawings;
Identify opportunities for conservation or efficiency, prepare energy saving calculations, and perform engineering assessment including baseline profiles, end-use, and retrofit analysis;
Coordinate with vendors and installation contractors for feasibility and pricing verification of proposed project modifications.
Provide engineering guidance throughout construction, project commissioning, and operations;
Cultivate and maintain effective business relationships at all levels and project phases;
Manage project expenditures and job cost accounting: including documentation, approvals, tracking, and reporting for engineering aspect;
Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes and successful project implementation that meets or exceeds company objectives, financial parameters, and technical needs required to deliver customer energy cost savings; and
Perform other duties as required
BSME or equivalent four-year technical engineering degree.
Minimum 6 years’ HVAC system analysis and design engineering experience, with exposure to facility operations and mechanical installation projects involving co-generation, heating, cooling, lighting, building controls, and automation technologies.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
Proven ability to manage and complete complex projects in a timely, cost-effective manner.
Strong verbal, written, computer communication and technical presentation skills.
MS Office proficiency
U.S. Citizenship required.
Valid Drivers’ License in good standing, issued by resident state required.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Word and Excel experience preferred, particularly experience with creation of pivot tables within Microsoft Excel
Experience with Microsoft Project & Primevera
Experience with cogeneration on systems from 60 KW up to 1 MW highly desirable.
Experience in/willingness to learn AutoCAD and Revit MEP
Experience in Trane Trace 700 and Carrier HAP Heating and Cooling Loads programs
Experience in eQuest energy modeling software
