    Applied Energy Group, an Ameresco company, has an opening for an Intern to join our Consulting Group for the summer of 2018. AEG, located in Walnut Creek CA, provides advanced analytic and strategic consulting services to energy companies, utilities, governments, and non-profit organizations. Our talented, multidisciplinary staff provides comprehensive solutions to complex energy and sustainability problems.  The Intern will perform a variety of tasks and should possess a strong interest in energy efficiency, sustainability, renewable energy, and energy policy. 


    Perform wide range of analysis, including energy analyses, analysis of fuel and utility bills, estimate energy efficiency savings and costs, provide financial analysis, and measure engineering analysis.
    Perform policy research on energy efficiency performance standards at the state and federal levels for both current and future policies.
    Perform quantitative research on the Department of Energy’s Annual Energy Outlook to update internal AEG data models.
    Perform research on new emerging technologies that could potentially be included in energy efficiency programs in the next 2-10 years.
    Perform policy research on energy efficiency codes and standards at the state and federal levels for both current and future codes.
    Perform benefit-cost analysis on prospective energy efficiency measures and programs.
    Justify and document technical decisions related to research planning and data analysis.
    Report and present results and findings, as well as actionable recommendations to the internal AEG team and potentially utility clients and regulators.



    Minimum Qualifications:

    Candidate for Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Public Policy, Mathematics, or quantitative related discipline

    Additional Preferred Qualifications:

    Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
    Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects and work closely with other project team members.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to explain technical information to a lay audience.
    Desire to develop existing and new skill sets in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with colleagues who take pride in their company and enjoy their work.
    Familiarity with at least one statistical software package (e.g., SAS, R, Stata, SPSS, or MATLAB)
    Familiarity with program planning and design or program implementation in energy or related environmental field.
    Familiarity with monitoring, verification, and evaluations in energy or related environmental field.
